GIST EECS Student Yoo Ho-hyuk Wins Silver Award at the 42nd National University Mathematics Competition
The Korean Mathematical Society has been hosting the National University Mathematics Competition since 1982. This competition has significantly contributed to motivating university students to study mathematics, advancing foundational academic disciplines, and fostering outstanding talent in the STEM fields.
The competition covers topics such as calculus, advanced calculus, number theory, linear algebra, differential equations, and introductory geometry, focusing on the mathematics curriculum for first- and second-year university students. It is divided into two categories: Category 1 (students majoring in mathematics or mathematics-related fields) and Category 2 (students from other departments, including statistics).
Since the launch of its undergraduate program in 2010, GIST has been supporting students in becoming well-rounded interdisciplinary talents. In addition to a minor in mathematics, which serves as a foundational subject for all STEM fields, GIST offers a variety of minors, including humanities and social sciences, culture technology, energy, intelligent robotics, and biomedical engineering.
